“Coolest Song in the World”

We here at CP inc. are happy to learn that Little Steven has hand-picked the title track off the forthcoming “Temple Beautiful” as the “Coolest Song in the World” for his show this week. Little Steven’s Underground Garage is throwback breakthrough radio in the tradition of the mega-cool late-night hipster jocks of long-gone 1960’s and ‘70s FM Radio. We’re extra thrilled as Little Steven has been our constant companion in the touring van and well, heck, we feel like we’ve gotten to know the dude.

Imagine a college campus: Little Steven is the dean, and Lemmy, Nancy Sinatra, Albert Camus, Groucho Marx and maybe even yours truly can all feel comfortable kicking it in the quad - that’s the Underground Garage.

Be true to your school. We know you will(!) And you know it’s not hard to when the guidance counselors are Roy Loney, the Beach Boys, Joey Ramone, the Chocolate Watchband, the Rolling Stones and many well- and er… lesser-knowns. . .

So, pull up a milk crate (or a Fender Twin) sit back, tune in and crank it up.

Love and rockets,

CP

Free song giveaway: Castro Halloween

Folks,

We’re giving a track away for Halloween because… well, I don’t know why… because we’re generous and it just seemed timely, that’s all!

It’s called Castro Halloween.

They say tricks are for kids…and phone sex is for adults, and Halloween is for preadolescents in Lady Gaga and Ghadafi masks. But one thing is for sure: everyone knows you can’t top the Castro Halloween for beautiful freaky weirdness.

Sign up for the mailing list and it’s yours.

KUSF, Lit Quake, solo gigs and more

Folks,

This Friday I’ll be at a Lit Quake event at the Make Out Room along with Dr. Frank Portman, Joel Selvin, Denise Sullivan, Richie Unterberger. Starts at 7:00 PM. I’ve been given 6 minutes to play, sing, read or work on that scarf I’m knitting for Stephie.

Next weekend Fri. Oct. 21st. will be epic. At the Rickshaw Stop. It’s a benefit for KUSF, and we’ll be playing all new songs from the forthcoming Temple Beautiful LP. AND. . .we’re backing Roy Loney for some songs. Roy! Loney!

A lot of us took KUSF for granted. But KUSF was more than Lollapalooza. More than Burning Man. It was 12 languages of diversity. It WAS San Francisco. Now it turns out USF may not have been in the right to sell it off. Fighting back requires money. A lot of people have volunteered their time and efforts. But they need all the money and awareness fit to print.

Don’t take my word for it. Read about the KUSF sale in the NY Times:

For anyone emerging from a coma, R.E.M. threw in the towel. And yours truly took it harder than a solid state receiver circa 1973. But I guess even Liberace knew when to turn off the bubble machine. Or maybe that was Lawrence Welk? But I digress. My point is that I thought I had a point there for a minute. Here it comes again: We’re still holding it together with chewing gum and sheer desire. And we’re out there kicking high and wide, far and near. With shows and songs we’ve never even played before we’re dying to play for you.

Don’t back out now.

Come out come out whoever you are!

Love and hisses and broken fingers,

C
