KUSF, Lit Quake, solo gigs and more
Folks,
This Friday I’ll be at a Lit Quake event at the Make Out Room along with Dr. Frank Portman, Joel Selvin, Denise Sullivan, Richie Unterberger. Starts at 7:00 PM. I’ve been given 6 minutes to play, sing, read or work on that scarf I’m knitting for Stephie.
Next weekend Fri. Oct. 21st. will be epic. At the Rickshaw Stop. It’s a benefit for KUSF, and we’ll be playing all new songs from the forthcoming Temple Beautiful LP. AND. . .we’re backing Roy Loney for some songs. Roy! Loney!
A lot of us took KUSF for granted. But KUSF was more than Lollapalooza. More than Burning Man. It was 12 languages of diversity. It WAS San Francisco. Now it turns out USF may not have been in the right to sell it off. Fighting back requires money. A lot of people have volunteered their time and efforts. But they need all the money and awareness fit to print.
Don’t take my word for it. Read about the KUSF sale in the NY Times:

For anyone emerging from a coma, R.E.M. threw in the towel. And yours truly took it harder than a solid state receiver circa 1973. But I guess even Liberace knew when to turn off the bubble machine. Or maybe that was Lawrence Welk? But I digress. My point is that I thought I had a point there for a minute. Here it comes again: We’re still holding it together with chewing gum and sheer desire. And we’re out there kicking high and wide, far and near. With shows and songs we’ve never even played before we’re dying to play for you.
Don’t back out now.
Come out come out whoever you are!
Love and hisses and broken fingers,
C
