Tim Mooney RIP

Let me tell you: Tim ALWAYS did the heavy lifting.

Running Secret Studios at a loss all those years? It was simply one of the things Tim did.

I rented space there (he never charged enough, BTW). When we had to throw in the towel and call it quits, it was hard for all of us to let go. But it was really hard for Tim. Here’s a pic of Tim (and John Murry) taking down some speakers in my space. Shortly after this, the place was completely empty. The echo of our voices in the emptied live room was deafening. Tim slunk down to the floor and we sat there talking for a while about change and life and family and what it meant to keep the dream alive. My heart goes out to his wife, Jude, and their beautiful daughter, Dixie.

I remember when it began: when the studio was finally up and running. Jude dropped by in the middle of a busy session, took a look around, and like a proud parent said, “This is cool.”. I made a mental note to tell my wife, “Why can’t you be more like that?”.

I mean, I’m kidding. You get what I mean, right? She knew what the dream meant to Tim. Tim was always of service. I miss Tim. His gentle, warm, open hearted way will never be replaced. When Tim Mooney, a truly heroic and decent man left us, we lost more than the idea of a good person in a tragic world. We lost Tim Mooney. http://www.facebook.com/TimDMooney
