TOO LONG

Attention guys (and the gals who love their significant others enough to come along),

We’ve got some shows to announce. A few Mission Ex band shows (Twangfest!). And more strings shows too. Yes, people! Stephanie “12 years a slave to the highway” Finch is back in the orchestra pit on Celeste and she couldn’t be happier about it.

We’ve also been in the studio lately. Just recorded a bunch of songs that can best be described as go-to-the-head-of-the-class kind of stuff. So, there’s that.

But I for one am looking forward to getting back in the van. It’s been a long time.

Too long. In fact I’ve been resisting the urge to walk up to random bands after their show and ask ‘em if I could coil their cables. [Which reminds me, someone was nice enough to pass along this instructional video produced by the London School of Sound on how to coil cables. WARNING: You may be unhappy to learn you’ve been doing it wrong all this time http://www.wimp.com/coilcables/ ]

Speaking of doing things wrong, while you’re waiting for that video to buffer, why not pause a moment and think about how much I’ve done for you and how little you’ve done for me. Got it? Hold that thought. Now I know some of you have been meaning to head over to the merch store to pick up a Panic in the Temple replacement Tshirt for the one you’ve worn out and maybe satisfy your vinyl fetish by picking up that El Depravo 7 Inch you’ve been hearing about. Of course, once there, who knows what else will catch your fancy. We’ve even got some cassettes on BURGER RECORDS (150 copies ONLY). That’s right, I’M TYPING IN ALL CAPS NOW BECAUSE BURGER RECORDS WAS IN THE NEW YORK TIMES.

Check it: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/18/arts/music/burger-records-develops-bands-and-more.html?_r=0%20…

We just ask that you be respectful of your fellow shoppers; no cutting in line or jostling others. There’s enough for everyone.

I know I went on and on about this before but stay tuned. It’s true, the Temple Beautiful e-book is coming down the pike. In fact, it’s all coming down the pike, baby. It might take 200 years, but it’s coming. Wake me up when it gets here!

It honestly is. But this e-book world is unchartered territory for us and the Yep Roc folks. There’s code and authoring software and ‘assets’ and things like that. The kind of things that can’t even be printed in the “CP-no HTML-having” newsletter. But, soon thanks to modern advancements in medicine you’ll be able to digitally dig into the anatomy of the Temple Beautiful LP. It’s like a digital sock drawer of lyric scribbles, marginalia, ephemera, unused verses, alternate song’s, placeholder titles, digressions, production notes, players’ home addresses and SS #’s, silly OCD scribbles and all the general nonsensical musings you could ever want. It’ll be worth the wait.

Okay, that’s enough,

-CP
