NIXON WALK REVISITED

I've got some solo shows out East to announce. I know the following might be one of the cruelest things someone can say to an audience, but here it goes: I might be trotting out some new songs. So there. You've been warned. And also there's some Mission Express festival dates and the like come summer. Dig in below.

Meanwhile, here in San Francisco, I'm still checking the surf report every morning out of habit, even if a shoulder injury has kept me out of the water. I'm back to spending my mornings doing the Nixon Walk along Ocean Beach. You know the walk: Hands behind my back, slow and pensive. Here's a PRO TIP: If you want to feel like you're starring in your own AARP commercial, if that's your thing, try the Nixon Walk on Ocean Beach in the morning. Maybe we can even walk together, side by side, not saying anything, brooding about the Washington Post and New York Times and how they have it out for us. (Sound familiar?)

Meanwhile, me and klip have been pushing around the songs and script for Temple Beautiful: The Musical (that's not a typo), which has been in the works for going on six years believe it or not. (Actually, the script is called a libretto, but we can never say "libretto" without having to look it up afterward to make sure we're using it right.) Last November we had another workshop culminating in a one-night-invitation-only showcase at PianoFight (former site of the original Original Joes) in the heart of the heart of the Tenderloin. With Clay David producing and Emilie Whelan directing nine, count-em nine actors, and a five-piece band led by Matt Jaffe (with yours truly out in the audience soaking it all in). A lit-up crowd gave the performance a Standing O. Excitement in the air. (Confusion too!) So, in the spirit of Save That Date, you heard it here first. We're gearing up for three performances at the Alcazar Theatre in late August. Get ready to cash in those airline miles(!). More on that to come.

Meanwhile, for those of you who made it out - or didn't - to our annual Austin residency at the Continental Club, we've got commemorative souvenir T shirts and posters for sale in our on-line store: theconnextion.com/chuckprophet

Onwards,

-CP

P.S.: ONE MORE PRO TIP FOR THE ROAD: Pour a jar of salsa into a bag of tortilla chips and shake it up. [It's like a salad but without all the annoying salad stuff.]
