You're so lucky that you got to see that. What a beautiful country where you live, too. |

Yes, it's a TB outtake. |

Exactly right, Stevie! We were listening to a lot of Jim Carroll (R.I.P.) at the time it came to be. |

Picked my copy up this morning. Set out alongside Shake Some Action reissue. |

Sadly, Levon finally Passed away. One of my favourite vocalists and musicians who along with other members of 'The Band' crafted some of finest music ever written. As a friend of mine put it "Another hero leaves the stage"...unfortunately so. |

Yep, it was a cracker of a gig. So glad Chuck came down 'our way'. So that's New York, London and Brighton [My 3 fave cities] where I've seen CP and The Mission Express. Best live band on the globe I reckon. Thanks for signing [and indeed releasing] the album on vinyl! |

Thanks Oliver, much appreciated. Grand National? I'll take The Mission Express over dead horses anytime...bit of politics for ya! |
|

Killyglen for the National. Chuck for the Railway. |

It's over...but what a day. 2 storming sets from the Mission Express, I think the afternoon just edged it for me with the surreal wedding party & a monstrous version of 'Fear is a man's best friend'. Look out for the 'Left Hand...' RSD vinyl - any info on the B-side ('I call your name) people? |

Amazing day in the Ancient Capital of Wessex....the 'VILLAGE' as Chuck calls it....I was already in seventh heaven before Chuck & Co blasted out the 'Groovies 'Shake Some Action' and managed to grab a few words with Chuck during the interval about seeing San Francisco's living answer to the Juke-Box back in the day....any chance of 'Teenage Head' maybe? H'mmmm... says Chuck.... .....Two hours later with Chuck's cry of "Give Me a G..!" the second magnificent set opens with a blistering version of the Groovies 'Slow Death' (plus an encore of 'Shake Some Action'!) The need to catch our late train meant that I never got to thank Chuck & the Band for yet another incredible gig at The Railway (and a Double-Shift to boot) Here's to a great tour and hope you can get back this way soon.....and do you guys do Bar-Mitzvahs too? |

Interesting. I'd never heard Slow Death but now I know what inspired the re-arrangement of CP's own Storm Across the Sea, which is what the second show opened with. Two incredible shows. Chuck thought the energy level was better in the evening, but I didn't feel there was much in it. The wedding interlude was great, with Stephie's rendition of Then He Kissed Me. Of the two epic guitar workouts, I thought Summertime was better in the evening but the PM's You Did had the edge on the second show. Chuck & James are currently taking guitar duels to uncharted territory. Nice to hear S's keyboards more upfront on a number of songs. Kevin great as ever, crazy fingers on Something Stupid. Kyle fits right in and provides spot-on, strong harmonies. Thanks again for the Motorcycle Mama encore! Check out the Cerys Matthews show! And if you didn't catch the band on the first UK leg, consider a road trip north if necessary for the return leg. The band have never sounded this hot. |

Their 'Flamin'Groovies' covers are really becoming popular it seems? I'm yet to hear their cover of 'Slow Death' but if its anything like 'Shake some action' then its gotta be cool. That wedding interlude thing sounds bizarre? lol..Great to hear that 'Motorcycle Mama' turned up again in the setlist. Hopefully that'll be featured in the setlist for Nottingham too in a couple of weeks. |

I saw Chuck at Dingwalls which was a great evening of live rocking entertainment and then went down to Winchester on the train to see his Saturday afternoon show plus the wedding interlude which added another, very sweet dimension to the proceedings. The band again on storming form covering Billy Swan's "I can Help" and playing a great mix of new and old CP tunes. Amazing how "You did" has become such an essential rousing live number. I've been listening to the last four records and Chuck's flow of great ideas and new tunes is pretty remarkable...so too is his (and the Mission Express) energy levels on this tour, where they seem to be playing every night without break until the 25th of May!...is this just the economics of the situation...what are the economics of bringing a band over to Europe to tour like this or shouldn't I ask? Anyway as ever very grateful to see such a great and inspiring live spectacle twice..the best 30quid I've spent this year. |

Just wanted to say a massive thanks to Oliver Gray from SXSC in Winchester and Chuck & Co for giving us the support on one of the best gigs I've been to and played at in ages!!! If you ever want us to play support again Chuck it would be our total self indulgent pleasure!! All the best with the rest of the dates guys! Jim Jones (From Small Town Jones not the cult leader - not that Im aware of anyway!!) |
