The Shed Gig in Bedford

oh , man, what a waste of money - Nah - only joking, !! Good to see the man and the band - thought the set was storming - Sue sends out mucho gracias for playing NO OTHER LOVE - tears in our eyes - you know, when a song means something extra special ????!! - great band - nice one guys - what a rythmn section - anchored it all down to the wooden floor like molasses - pedal steel that made my heart bleed, and, the double act duo whose eyebrows nearly met spooned out the songs with wit and good humour - hope you had a good fund raiser after the gig!! How about a more interactive messageboard/forum ????? Been good to connect with people since the start of the UK leg of the tour - theres plenty of possibilities - any ideas out there ?? answers on a message or email............... papa

sheffield gig

I would just like to say that i enjoyed your show immensly chuck, and it was a pleasure to see you again. You have such fluidity on the guitar, and an unusual sound, that you just don't see much these days. Sorry i didn't say much, but me, Samantha, and Robert are all a bit timid ;-). The Boardwalk is a great place to play, my band Miyamoto played there 3 times, a year or so ago, and had a good laugh. I played the moog, something i hear you've been using lately. Great bit of gear that.. Anyway, thanks again, see you next time. james.

The musician gig

Hi Chuck, band, and beleivers in the faith (The mighty Chuck)Wow what a gig, can't get the songs out of my head. Has anyone recorded the current tour? Would like a copy and will reimbuse any costs.(this is for my use only) Failing that hope Chuck puts a live cd out. Abandoned Love was supurb. Hope to see Chuck next time in town but what about a greatest hits tour next time with the likes of 110 degrees in the shade, angel, 22 Fillmore, homemade blood, New years day, it wont be long, credit and No other Love included? What a gig that would be?

Hey Chuck, or anyone in the band for that matter, don't know if any of you ever get a chance to do the internet cafe thing and check in on the site while you're out and about. If you see this, it'd be great to hear "Shoot Em All Down" for the last night of the UK tour in Winchester! I was going to do some free publicity for the venue on the intranet at work, but apparently the show's already nearly sold out. Looking forward to it.

King Tuts Wah Wah Hut 16th April

Thanks for a great show. Don't know what all the fuss was about the microphone. Everything sounded great to me. The version of Abandoned Love glued on to Dark End of the Street was a hoot. Don't know if it worked from a technical point of view but I gotta hand it to you for even trying such a thing. Thanks also for introducing me to the wonderful Howard Tate. Still can't get hold of his album 'Get it While You Can' though. Something to look forward to I guess. Be sure and don't miss out Glasgow or Edinburgh next time. All the best.

Chuck in Sheffield Tuesday 19th

Thought Chuck was awesome as usual and the borderline seemed a great venue for him to play in. His guitar playing was brilliant and his voice and inbetween song patter was at his entertaining peak. Thought his band gave great support and helped contribute to storming set. Took along two good friends promising them a night to remember and we were not disappointed.Keep up the good workChuck and don't leave it long till you return to England. PS is the Fender really just a FEnder Squire ?

I understand that Chuck's Squier is an early-80's one. These were built (allegedly) with US parts and are much better guitars than are being produced under the Squier name nowadays. Specifically, the bodywood used on Squiers now is typically agathis, not ash or alder. That's probably enough guitar geekdom for now. If you want any more info, join the forum at tdpri.com.

I agree with previous Paul about 80s Squiers. the main plus point apart from the quality parts used is the fact they were made in Japan, subsequent production switched to korea, Indonesia and China with a massive drop in standards. I have a Squier Hank Marvin strat and it's way ahead of most current Fenders. BTW venue in Sheffield is the Boardwalk - the Borderline's in London

The Musician, Sunday April 17th

As expected, had a great night but was a little disappointed in the absence of some of the slower stuff ('Dying all Young' is probably my favourite song). I think that Chuck may have been a little influenced by Mark Mallman (who was fantastic!) but I think that he should stick to his own, slightly more laid back, style which I have seen in previous gigs at Leicester. Having said that I did like his brilliant guitar playing whilst lying on his back at the Charlotte a few years ago! I bought a copy of the 'As seen on TV' live CD to complete my Chuck collection, and particularly like the version of 'After the Rain'. I also bought Mark Mallman's latest CD and, though it doesn't have the impact of his live performance, I have got 'Still Wasted' on repeat in my car stereo at the moment! As a novice guitar player, I'd be very interested in finding out more about Chuck's Squier Telecaster. Surely it can't be the standard version that is currently available for relatively little money? It has a fantastic sound!!! If anyone can give advice, I would be grateful. Finally, I hope that Chuck and Stephanie have sorted out their obvious differences from Sunday night. They make a great couple, but perhaps not with the mouth to mouth duet? I think that she's got a great voice (yes I have purchased Go G0 Market!) and should have more input as a conventional backing singer - but what do I know?

See next post reply - the Squiers currently available are made in China/ Indonesia - Chuck uses an 80s model which would have been made in Japan. Look out for these in second hand shops - the quality is outstanding and they're starting to fetch sizeable money among those who know...
