I understand that Chuck's Squier is an early-80's one. These were built (allegedly) with US parts and are much better guitars than are being produced under the Squier name nowadays. Specifically, the bodywood used on Squiers now is typically agathis, not ash or alder. That's probably enough guitar geekdom for now. If you want any more info, join the forum at tdpri.com. |

I agree with previous Paul about 80s Squiers. the main plus point apart from the quality parts used is the fact they were made in Japan, subsequent production switched to korea, Indonesia and China with a massive drop in standards. I have a Squier Hank Marvin strat and it's way ahead of most current Fenders. BTW venue in Sheffield is the Boardwalk - the Borderline's in London |

See next post reply - the Squiers currently available are made in China/ Indonesia - Chuck uses an 80s model which would have been made in Japan. Look out for these in second hand shops - the quality is outstanding and they're starting to fetch sizeable money among those who know... |
